If you are considering working with a coach, it’s important that you feel aligned with that individual, so let me share some information about myself.
Here is the short story.
My name is Jennifer Lee, I am an International Coaching Federation (ICF) designated coach who leverages a career as a senior human resources leader with being a life coach. I specialize in career transition – whether that’s prepping for an internship, taking a big leap from one career choice to another or closing the chapter on your working life. I also engage with individuals who are finding they’ve lost a bit of themselves and are ready to imagine what’s possible when they align their purpose and passion with their potential.
I am a coach because…
I love helping others discover their wisdom and potential.
I love supporting people who have the courage to pursue their dreams.
I love seeing people succeed in life.
I love the creative process of exploring curiosities and removing barriers.
I love combining knowledge, experience and ‘insider information’ gained in my People & Culture career with my coaching skills.
Because I learn and grow alongside the individuals I work with.
It is an incredible honour to serve in this capacity.
Am I the right coach for everyone? No one coach is. I work best with committed people who are READY for change - small shifts for some, big leaps for others. Is coaching right for you? Let’s start the conversation and find out. Bring your questions and let’s discover what’s possible for you.
Now for the longer version…
I first learned about coaching at a time I was contemplating a move away from what was once ‘my dream career’ to purse something different. I was working at small market television station, as a writer-producer, and eventually a Creative Director. Sound exciting doesn’t it? It was, until it wasn’t. My restlessness led me to enroll in a three-day career exploration workshop where I confirmed my next move was to human resources. Interestingly, the facilitator suggested I also explore coaching but at the time, my focus was solely on HR. So, back to school I went as a mature student, and while I did transition into a successful second career, coaching moved to my back burner.
Until I needed it.
I had been struggling in my second dream career, – not the work part, the culture part, except that’s not how I saw it. What I did know is that I needed help. I started working with a coach who helped me discover there was a different way to think about what I was experiencing. Our sessions were powerful. I adopted new (and healthier) ways of being, that included recognizing when my inner critic needed to be silenced.
Armed with new energy and a fresh dose of determination, I made the decision to enhance my HR education and enrolled in a six-month program at Royal Roads University. Coaching was one of our areas of study and that experience brought the idea of becoming a coach to my side burner.
Until I was reminded what coaching can do.
I met a former colleague for dinner. Within minutes of being in her company I knew something was different. This once reluctant person was now exuding genuine confidence. She shared new perspectives about situations she previously found limiting. What was different? She had been attending coaching workshops and was about to enter coach certification training. She was happy and excited about her future. And, when she suggested I attend an introductory coaching workshop – I moved coaching to my front burner. That first workshop turned into five and was followed by coach certification training, and earning designation from the ICF.
